INTRODUCTION
The Tempest is one of William Shakespeare’s comedies. It tells the story about Prospero who is the duke of Milan. The story is a comic fantasy with emotions like revenge, greed, love and forgiveness.
SUMMARY
Prospero was interested in books & the art of magic. He trusted his brother Antonio and asked to look after his kingdom. But Antonio overthrew Prospero and Miranda out of the country. Alonso the King of Naples was part of the crime.
Gonzalo helped with food and other supplies. Prospero reached an island and stayed there for 12 yrs. Sycorax the witch and Caliban were enchanting the island. Prospero released many spirits imprisoned by them. Ariel was one among them.
Prospero was waiting for a time to revenge the enemies. On seeing the ship crossing the sea he ordered Ariel to raise a storm by his magic. Antonio, Alonso, and Ferdinand the prince were shipwrecked.
Ferdinand reached the island. Ferdinand & Miranda fell in love. Prospero tested their consistency & approved their love.
On the other hand, Ariel had treated the enemies with his magic & witty tricks. They realised the mistake and pleaded for forgiveness. Prospero was moved.
He said “ Let us not remember the past, since so happily have ended”
All happily returned to their kingdom of Milan
CONCLUSION - Be compassionate,
sympathy & forgiveness win our
enemies.
